OSWC and Humanitarian Policy Group Announce Partnership for Groundbreaking Research in Ukraine

OSWC and Humanitarian Policy Group Announce Partnership for Groundbreaking Research in Ukraine

Open Space Works Cooperative (OSWC) is excited to announce a new partnership with the Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) is one of the world’s leading teams of independent researchers and communications professionals working on humanitarian issues. It is dedicated to improving humanitarian policy and practice through a combination of high-quality analysis, dialogue and debate. Together, we will embark on a comprehensive qualitative data collection and research project focusing on the humanitarian response to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The two-year project, set to commence in April 2023, will examine the narratives surrounding the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, seeking to understand how these narratives shape policy decisions and humanitarian outcomes. In the current political climate where information and misinformation hold significant sway, the impact of these narratives is more important than ever.

As the implementing partner, OSWC will take on several key roles in the project, including the collection and analysis of qualitative data, coordination of workshops, and contributions to reports and recommendations. Our team's deep knowledge of the local context and expertise in qualitative research methods will be pivotal in carrying out this project.

The research will explore various narratives, including motivations behind providing assistance, definitions of humanitarian needs, and perceptions of various actors involved in humanitarian aid. The project will also assess the impact of these narratives on the perceptions and actions of stakeholders such as donor governments, humanitarian agencies, and the affected communities.

Our collaboration with HPG will culminate in a regional roundtable where the final report, including recommendations, will be presented to senior decision-makers. The aim is to spark informed discussions that lead to concrete actions in response to the findings.

OSWC is proud to be a part of this critical research initiative that seeks to understand and influence the humanitarian landscape in Ukraine. We believe that the insights gleaned from this project will not only inform humanitarian policy in Ukraine, but also provide valuable lessons for other contexts worldwide.
