3-days learning exchange programme in open space format for urban and community activists and innovators

Over the last couple of years the concept of participation in Ukraine has become a trend that is manifested by NGOs, development projects, local governments. Lots of approaches have been applied by advocates of deliberative democracy and citizen participation that provide both more meaningful engagement and better community outcomes.

However here's the rub: again and again NGOs, communities, and even international donors tend rather to declare participation, then fully to practice it; again and again communities become not to be ready to experience participation and value it's gifts.
Learning exchange in open space format: 'Participation That Fails: What Projects Do We Need To Re-Invent Community Engagement In Ukraine?' that will gather up to 50 urban and community activists, community organizers, cultural managers, creative industries activists, innovators to give a voice to the participation fuck up stories in Ukrainian communities and to prototype projects for successful community engagement.
When & Where?
The learning exchange will be held on May 2-4, 2017 as a site event during international festival of film and urbanism '86'.

The event will take place at Slavutych, the youngest city in Ukraine. On the 2nd of October, 1986, the decision to build a new city for the workers of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and their families was issued. On 26th of March, 1988, the first accommodation order was given in.
